A Failure?!

I came upon a quote from my favorite author that I thought was interesting:

“It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default.” - J.K. Rowling

So true! We worry about “failing” during this time when we are on our way to being healthier individuals, but we need to understand that it’s not going to be a perfect path. We are going to fall, but the point is that we learn from it and use it as a learning experience. Ultimately, we CAN reach our goal and we WILL surpass it. We’ve just got to stay positive and not worry about “failing” because it is a part of life.

For the people who have wondered where I’ve been for the past few days, I’ve been working hard on this paper I have due tomorrow. I’m hoping that I do really well on it so I’ve been focusing lots of attention on it. I’m almost done though!

I volunteered last night & thought of my Wildcats (see I still think of BS even when I’m not on here). I was at an organization called Cradles to Crayons & was sorting through kid’s clothes when I came upon a pair of shorts – it said “G r r r r!” on the back & in the front on the side it said “Wildcats” with a paw print design. Lol too cute. We should all have a pair!

Monday I went to the gym and did 20 mins on the elliptical machine and worked on my legs & abs for the remainder of the time. Tuesday I took 2 strength training classes [Body Express & Real Resistance] and let me tell you that I can barely walk today! My legs are done! It feels good though. Lets me know that I put in work! No gym today because we are taking a co-worker out for lunch because this is her last week in our department. I have to volunteer again tonight, so I won’t have time to make it to the gym after work. I will work out from home though. More push-ups! I did 60 yesterday in my gym class – wooohoooo!

I was complaining to my co-worker about my achy legs and she keeps complimenting me on how good I look. She’s noticed my weight loss and said to keep up the good work. Aaww, that made my day!

I finally remembered to buy vitamins on Monday so now I have my daily dose of “One A Day” :)

    Good luck with your paper.
Luckily, most of us are never in danger of the monumental failure that results in torture and death… And as long as we live, things are fixable :)

Glad you’re back! I think missing a workout to volunteer is completely acceptable—you’ve got to feed your soul, too! I hope you have a great day and an awesome rest of the week. :)

It is awesome that you volunteer so much! Giving back! Good for you!

You are so right about the fear of failure. We would do better with picking ourselves back up if we removed the expectation of perfection. Thank you for sharing the quote with us!
